passion: designing my new place

Designing my new place has been really exciting and a great way to create an inspiring atmosphere for me to call home sweet home. When I first moved to LA I always felt like my places were temporary and didn't put too much time and love into the design. Now that I have my own place (well me and Iris my puppy) I am able to do that which feels amazing!! Everyone knows my favorite color is blue, so my living room is all shades of blue, white, and gray.

Here is the Feng Shui on BLUE: Blue color according to Feng Shui has yin energy. It is calm and soothing. This color has great significance in Feng Shui as it reflects love as it heals and relaxes. Blue creates a feeling of peace and trust. Since it is the color of the sea and sky, Feng Shui associates it with adventure and exploration. Navy blue is the color of intellect and wisdom.

My first project was FRAMING and here are the steps on how I created my living room framed art!

1. I found these frames at the Melrose Trading Post and fell in love with the contrasting blue colors. You don't have to have the same size, frame design, or color to pair frames. As long as they compliment each other, pairing two different frames creates interest and intrigue.
2. Find prints or art that inspire you. I found these prints from a local artist and to me they screamed "girl on a mission" and "girls with strength" while still having a fun and feminine side to them. (some people think they look scary but to each their own haha)

3. Take the frames and prints to your local framer to get glass and backing installed. I took them to Fast Frames and paid under $50 for each one and I was so happy with how they turned out. They made my room complete and were a fun DIY project in the process!

What's your favorite color for living room decor?
