party: cinco de drinko - margaritas with salt air


I recently took a trip to Washington DC and got a great recommendation to go to Oyamel Mexican Restaurant. Not only was the food amazing and unique, but the drinks were off the charts!


I think I was most impressed with the margaritas that contained “Salt Air” in place of a traditional salt rim. The Salt Air is basically a salty tasting foam that tops the beverage and makes every sip a well rounded bit of lightly salty margarita heaven!

I found the recipe and have re-created it for all of you just in time for Cinco De Mayo!! Serve these ridiculously posh margs and you will for sure be the toast of the town!

Make margaritas per usual: Below is my Grapefruit Marg Recipe – it’s divine!

Ingredients:
2 cups tequila
4 cups grapefruit juice
2 cups Corona Light

Prep:
Mix all ingredients in a large margarita pitcher, add ice and pour into cups J

Garnish with Salt Air - recipe below:

Ingredients;
1 cup fresh squeezed lime juice
2 cups water
1 tablespoon kosher salt
1/2 teaspoon soy lecithin (available at GNC stores)

Prep:
Mix all ingredients in a bowl. Tilt the bowl away from you and blend with hand-held blender held in the far corner. When there's an inch or so of foam on top, it's ready to use. Skim off the foam onto margarita.
