discover: lacma & kubrick

{Stanley Kubrick's movie posters on display at the LACMA)

One of the great things about living in LA is all of the cultural activities the city hosts. I went to visit a Van Gogh exhibit in Paris a few years back and there was a sign posted that stated the exhibit was currently residing in LA - irony. With that said, I try and take in as many of the unique experiences LA has to offer as I can.
This past weekend my boyfriend and I visited the LACMA and stopped by the Stanley Kubrick exhibit currently showing. I've only ever watched A Clockwork Orange, The Shinning, AI and Full Metal Jacket - but the exhibit of his accomplishments was extremely impressive and Dan and I have now vowed to view more of his work. Below are some of the highlights from the show.

 {A Clockwork Orange - one of his many highly controversial films which was later acclaimed a masterpiece.}

{A photo album of how Kubrick arranged the scenes in The Shinning - his meticulous planning and research was impressive but boarder-line obsessive}

 {Props from The Shinning}

 {"If chess has any relationship to filmmaking, it would be in the way it helps you develop patience and discipline in choosing between alternatives at a time when an impulsive decision seems very attractive" - Kubrick}
